Once again, Monsters Of Beer Charity Festival is raising money for Live It BIG, Inc, an IRS-certified 510(c)(3) non-profit organization. Last year’s Monsters of Beer Charity Festival showcased 10 Texas breweries and sold out at 600 attendees, raising $5,000 for charity. With this year’s growth to 50 breweries (give or take), the expansion of up to 3000 attendees and support from amazing sponsors like Whole Foods Market and Silver Eagle Distributors, we hope to raise $50,000 for the charities we support. The beer list is expanding as well. This year we will have craft beers from all over the United States, with a focus on Texas breweries. (Several Texas breweries are already putting aside truly exquisite beers to bring to the festival.)
What the heck is this thing?
The Monsters Of Beer Charity Festival is the opening event celebrating Houston Beer Week. 100% of the Monsters of Beer Charity Festival net proceeds go to Live It Big , which is a 501(c)(3) organization that supports startup and small charities including Friday Harbour, an amazing group that provides housing for the families of cancer patients in the Houston Medical Center, and Stepping Stones Charter School – a phenomenal school serving low-income and at-risk children in southwest Houston. This Houston Chronicle article explains our efforts in detail.
Monsters of Beer is the only Houston beer festival that donates 100% of all net proceeds to charity. In order to do this, we do whatever we can to keep the cost of the event as low as possible. For example, the breweries that come to Monsters have graciously donated their beer to Live It BIG so that we can mount a first-rate beer festival, while allowing the vast majority of the money from ticket sales to go towards our charitable mission. The support of participating breweries and sponsors allow us to hold this festival and help out Houstonians in need.
What Can I Expect?
As an attendee of Monsters, you will be able to taste beers from all of the breweries represented. Your purchase of a ticket will get you a wristband, a sampling cup and a tasting card.
Each brewery/brewpub is bringing at least 2 labels along, so you’ll have an abundance of beers to taste.

We’ve got some fantastic bands coming this year, but the lineup for 2011 is still TBA. Last year’s stage lineup included Mason Lankford and the Folk Family Revival, Young Girls, Castle Lights, and Chase Hamblin.

Yes. Last year we had a silent auction of rare beers and other beer-related goodies, and we are expanding it this year. All proceeds from this auction will go toward the charities we support.
